4x for a Profitable Personal Lines Book?

200+ built in buyers all bidding on a group members book. The Member getting more for the book. Another great reason to join a group.
 
Shawn - Can you provide actual examples of when Agents got more for their book inside a group then they would have if they were outside of a group?
 
Contractually a group should state what they will pay for a book in the contract. Not simply "Fair Market Value".


Lets say a group contract states they will pay X for a book.


If the agent/owner of the book can sell to another agent in the group for X+Y everyone wins!
 
It seems only getting up to 2x your annual comm. is not worth it. Govt. wants its share. Maybe hire someone to run it and work very little. I see a lot of older agents doing that.
 
Lot's of factors go into valuing a book of business, but in the end it all comes down finding someone with the means to buy whatever you are selling.

If you are thinking of selling, the best thing you can do is objectively look at your business as if you were going to buy it. The challenge for most people is the objectivity.
