71 year old male.
Takes no medications.
He has medicare parts A & B only. Had a medicare supplement 2 years ago, but stopped paying for it after his wife died. She handled the finances.
He is not sure if he has part D. He mentioned something about prescriptions, although he didn't think he paid anything for it.
He only makes $1,000 a month on social security income. No money in the bank. He is concerned about hospital costs mainly in case he gets sick.
He can't afford more than $80 dollars a month for a plan, according to him.
He said AARP had a plan for $77 a month. Any idea what plan that might be?
I am thinking a MAPD plan would work, with low deductibles for hospital.
Would that make sense for him?
However there is no SEP?
Maybe get Medi-Cal?
Then consider a dual eligible plan?
What would you recommend he do?
