A Tax on the Medicare Supplements?

A lady told me she was refusing to switch to any plans because the medigap plans covered everything. She wasn't happy with the increase but said that the "nice insurance lady" told her the reason they raised her medicare supplement was because of the Obamacare taxes, then said state taxes. So it's obvious she was confused.

Anybody have any ideas how to get around this?

If she won't listen to reason then move on. No need to waste time on someone who feels they know more than you.

Ironically, the elderly and the poor — those who were supposed to benefit most from Obamacare — will be adversely affected by the new tax, as will financially hard-pressed state governments.

Section 9010 mandates that taxes must be paid for seniors who rely on Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D.

Oliver Wyman estimated Medicare Advantage would cost seniors $360 more this year. Medicaid managed-care enrollees will be expected to face increases of $152, according to the firm.

Nice find Somarco! Did Medicare Advantage premiums increase $360 for 2015? Even higher for 2016? Wow.
