Accounting Question

Ok so here are my "friends" final fees. Remember, there are 3 W2 employees and 6 1099 agents. This seems crazy to me:

$200 per month for the 1st five months bookkeeping
$300 per month starting July for bookkeeping and payroll includes all
quarterly & year end filings
$1200 for corporate return
$300-400 for personal return
THESE ARE ALL SEVERELY DISCOUNTED FEES.
I get paid for what I bill not what I bring in. I already have 8 hours
into your engagement @ $115 per hour and I am not half way done with
your Jan-may stuff. Once I am done organizing Jan-may I would have
billed between 1600 and 2000, all I am charging you is 1000.

Being honest here, find a new CPA if you want to save the friendship. First, you're already questioning the fees. Second, he/she is already getting defensive about it.

A very good friend of mine (W-2 with 1 house rental) had a CPA "friend" who charged her $1200 until my friend called me and asked "am I paying too much?"

Just be certain you have documented billing hours. $115 per hour would be cheap here, but expensive for write-up.

Of course, that is, if you want to save the friendship.
