Am I a Jerk for This?

So I have decided any business that I go to who does not let me
at least compete for their life insurance business then I will not support their business.

For example I know two business owners in my area who own
video stores. One guy wouldn't let me compare his life policy to
what I could offer him so I found a new video store and wrote a
policy on him.

Oh and here's the kicker

Then I told the other guy that I go to his
competitor now.

For extra laughs

The 1st guy is with primerica on his policy and I was a
customer for over 7 years.

Who still goes to a video store?

Anyway, I don't think you're being a jerk. I think its fair.

It is customary in business to do business with those who do business with you.

I'm with you as far as wanting to do business with those who do business with you, but going back to the first guy like you said seems a bit petty.

How many insurance agents do you think go into his video store per month or per year. I insure probably 20 Realtors and that many Gardeners, Contractors and Hair Stylist. They all do business with me, but I can only get so many hair cuts.

Sounds good in theory but would be tough in practice.

Silliest thing I've read on this forum in a long time. How can you accomplish this, you'll freaking run out of places to shop. Think it through...

100% correct. You do not go back and throw it in the previous owners face. Very poor taste there.
