I spoke to a rep about this company that is selling STM by Life Shield?

Supposedly the company was started by Michael Rowel (some guy who started Fidelity Life?)

I weary of all these companies that are coming out with Short term plans.

Anyone here of them?

Thanks!

Proven players only please...............or you run risk of the new company "blues"

Thanks Y,

I googled the guys name and came up with this rip-off report

Now to be fair, he sold that company to Fidelity Life and Fidelity Life is the one who got Ripoff report on.

But, i hear ya. There's so many cockroaches in this business...(sigh).

The under 65 short-term plans are a train that is about to leave the station - you're going to find them everywhere in October either by companies reigniting their old STMs to now run 36 months or by companies creating new ones - just sit back and watch them all come to the Forefront then you'll have a lot to pick from

Sure...but are they offering a legit product?

Can anyone sell these programs with confidence?

?

Yeah I sell a lot Lifeshield STM policies. Its a good option for the right client, many caveats though. Know what you are buying before you buy.

Lifeshield is very inexpensive and offers the best copay arrangement Ive seen for any doctor in network including specialists, its on the largest PPO network Multi-plan. They offer very customize-able deductible and coinsurance packages. (Expert tip: you can cancel a few of the ancillary services like teledoc and RX helpline to open up budget for more important allocation of monthly premium. I often add an accident or supplemental coverage to cover OOP.)

Caveats are no pre-x covered, and determining whether a doctor is in network has proven challenging to some clients. ALSO some dirty companies will sell you their indemnity plan and pass it off as STM, WHICH IT IS NOT. So IMO, Lifeshield gets a bad rap because of these less than professional call centers.

They are better than the catastrophic coverage in many cases in MY opinion. That's basically all they are....downside protection for emergencies.

You cant generalize STM products in that way. They are vastly different. Their variability is sort of the point.

With Lifeshield, my clients love the $30 copay to see a doctor or specialist, the $50 wellness visit copay, and the low comparative price. If copays and price are the sticking points, I offer them Lifeshield STM... and it works quite well.

I then cross sell dental, accident, cancer, etc... You can easily make $2000/yr per family. STM will be a large focus for me this coming year.
