Anyone Hire Their OWN Phone Appt Setter?

TomZack

Super Genius
I am starting to work the small business market in particular for life, DI, retirement and annuity programs.

I was wondering if anyone would share their success stories (or lack of) if they have hired their own phone appt setter.

My thinking is to give the appt setter incentive to make good appointments by bonusing them on business written.

Is there an industry rag or association to advertise in for telemarketing specialists to set appt for life agents to small businesses?

Or did anyone just 'self train' someone locally and it worked out?

Because it can be expensive, I was planning on only trying someone for a few hours work a week to start.

Also, if you have something that is working, would you be willing to share the script?

Finally, is there a good telemarketing company out there working in my niche currently?

Any thoughts and shared successful experiences would be appreciated.

The problems with most setups is the MONEY. If they are good at setting appointments, it is hard for ONE agent to pay them enough to make it worth while. If they are doing good for you and you pay them $300, but they also do good for 2 other agents that pay them $300 each, then they are making enough to continue to do it.

It is usually best to share a setter with a couple agents to make it worth while with them.

I've had good success with a Philippine telemarketer that I found through onlinejobs.ph for a fee of $49.00. This is billed monthly but I found her in the first week and was able to cancel any further billing. Employment arrangements are made directly with the telemarketer and no further payment is made to onlinejobs.ph. Pay scale ranges from $3.00 to $5.00 per hour and there are no additional taxes to be paid. Payment is made through PayPal. According to my accountant, the cost is simply a line item on my P&L. Applicants at onlinejobs.ph are graded on their education and experience on a numbered scale and I requested applicants in the range of 70 and higher. Many have taken English proficiency tests and my telemarketer speaks very professionally and with little trace of an accent. Phillipinos tend to be shy or reserved so I found I needed to screen for someone with the confidence to speak up and speak with authority. I provided her with a script and some background on the area I focus in and within an hour she was up and running. I have her using SalesDialers which she accesses via a softphone which requires a 3mpbs upload speed. I purchase data from salesdatapro.com. If you subscribe to Chris Westfall's site or to ILIAA, you can get both of these services at a discount.

How interesting.

Thank you. I will look into this.

I appreciate your willingness to share.

Are you prospecting businesses or residential? What products do you work with?

This is a great low cost way to generate leads. I would look at Avatar systems or over sea dialers as well. These people you can pay cheaper and get more results. I ran a Avatar system for 1 1/2 years and paid 20 people $4.25 an hour to generate leads. I would get about 200 calls a day.

Question:
When they make the call....does it show up as a local call and/or with identification?

I'll have to look into Avatar, I guess.

How did you make this set-up? What is a soft phone? Are there long distance charges that you have to pay?

Did you get the set-up details from the site(s) you mentioned?

Sorry for all the Qs. But I am really interested in doing this. I checked the jobsite already.

1) When they call...what phone number shows up on prospect's phone ID?

2) Where Do you get the overseas dialer?

3) Do you record the calls?

Thank you for the help!

Go to the university nearest to you and find out when they have career fairs. Set up a booth, typically they're free at schools' career fairs, and make a small sign saying "Looking for Interns for Financial Services"

Now you'll have free, very enthusiastic, and educated labor for calling.
