Are You a Retirement Specialist... or Just Sell Annuities?

    Michael Kitces talks about the vast subject matter that one should be well-versed in, if you're going to specialize in retirement planning, especially if you're going to be integrating annuities into the retirement income plan.

    In my opinion, THIS is what the DOL ruling is about - having the true comprehensive planning conversation, instead of just selling a product or gathering more assets under management.

    The answer of why DOL came about is in the second question that was made to Kitces.

    And is as you said is " ........ having the true comprehensive planning conversation, instead of just selling a product........" when in the middle you loose the whole point of view of your job. which can be define as working in the best interes of your client or having a fiduciary relation with this one.
