Arrests. No convictions. Will I be disqualified?

Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can answer my question. I have passed state exam for my 2-15 license. I've been recruited to work for PMA representing Washington National. I have completed fingerprinting, paid all fess etc. My profile is saying my fingerprints are being reviewed. I was married to a man for a few years that I can had issues with concerning domestic violence. I have pressed charges on him twice and he's been convicted. In one of these past issues I was arrested in 2014 for Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon (felony). The judge threw the case out because due to conflicting statements and his history I was defending myself. It never went to court and was dismissed never made a plea etc. On the myfloridacfo.com website it only states that convictions are factors for disqualification. I would just like reassurance that this is something that will be overlooked.

Anything pending could be an issue. As long as the charges are closed and dismissed, you won't (shouldn't) have any problems.

Worst case scenario, they may ask you for any court paperwork regarding it during a background check.

Thank you for the response. It has been closed for years and completely dismissed. The waiting for the pending application had me nervous. I had yet to find any threads saying how long others have waited on their application process. I appreciate the information.

You good . . . No conviction . . .

I have no legal training... so take this with a grain of salt. But its possible that your fingerprints merely got a hit...meaning that there was a match and hence a minor investigation needs to be completed. If everything was thrown out as you say than it should not be an issue far as I can tell.

I suggest you contact the court and get a copy of the dismissal. Having it handy might speed things up if you need documentation.

Frankly, something like that ought to be in your permanent personal file anyway.

Some county courts have a manual process so they naturally process much slower than the electronic ones. Instead of them putting something into a computer and it automatically sending the output, there is a person that has to go and grab files out of a cabinet then review. Shouldn't have an issue, just a little longer wait.

That's a great idea that I've never considered. I will do this just in case.

Update: Later on in the day when I posted this I received the email stating everything went thru fine. I'm licensed!

True, although I'm pretty confident. I've worked for Aflac prior but not for long.. I had to move and had a few life changes that prevented me from working. I've been working for a group administrator for over 3 years dealing with dental and vision. I'm just not sure what to expect but I'm excited.
