Is it just me, or are Assurants rates appearing to more competitive in Texas...?? I have been writing a fair amount of Assurant lately, and the non-copay rates have been very competitive and even beating alot of the other guys. I know Assurant has a bad reputation in TX for their rates, but maybe I've just been writing in good zip codes...

Assurant- zipcode 75067 one male 35 with 31 year old spouse both non smokers and 3 children. I have the Max plan( 1000ded,80/20,35office copay,3000oop) at $1096.15

Unicare- Same zip and family under Fit plan on (1000ded, 80/20,30 off copay, 3000oop) at $618.00

Fit plan has $250.00 brand name prescript ded and Assurant $500.00 + 20% copay on brand name.

$479.00 a month savings going with Unicare!:err:

Not sure what's going on with Unicare's HSA:

Unicare HSA - zip 75067 - male 40, female 40, 2 kids. $5,000 individual, $10,000 family deductible at 80% coinsurance. Drug copay start after the deductible? Rate = $482

Assurant HSA - same info - $5,700 individual deductible, $10,000 family at 80% coinsurance. Drugs are free after deductible - $452

Personally I like 100% coinsurance but it doesn't like Unicare has that option.

That's Assurant all the way. Plus you add accident production and the free HSA account. Doesn't look like Unicare has a HSA admin.
