I received an email blast this morning offering:

18% post reform commissions
12 month advance
Free in-house exclusive telemarketed leads.

Now, that sounds absolutely phenomenal.

I called any they pretty much want you to sell face to face.

LOL, I was pretty excited about an 18% commish and 12 month advance.....UNTIL I checked the plans and rates:

Avmed 's "Easy Plan"--

Family deductibles are an aggregate of four.

So, 10k individual deductible/40k family.

Annual OOPM is $15k per ind or $60k for the family.

This is an HMO(non-pos), so no OON coverage.

We really don't need to go any further on that plan....

Avmed's "Elite Plan"-

This is an POS plan.

Deductibles: 10k ind/20k family in network

OON: 20k/40k

In network OOPM: 12k ind/24k family

OON Max: 24k/48k


I just did a comparison of a family of four

Coventry1 10k 7030 copay plan $259

Humana1 7500 Value $269

Cigna OA Value 10k 70 $301

Avmed Elite 10k $382

Not competitive in my mind at all.

South Florida agents, have you any of you sold this or what is YOUR opinion.

AvMed. . . Sounds like a great plan. . Just pitch it like everything. . for them NOT to use it.

AvMed was quite strong in the south FL market, mostly large employer group plans, several years ago. When I was in the stop loss market we did business with them. Lost our shirt and quit quoting down there. They are (or were) filed as an HMO but looks like any competitive advantage they may have had for their structure has been lost.

Avmed is quite popular in the No English crowd. Same with Vista or any HMO's.
