Balance billing medicare beneficiaries.

I have a local hospital that is balance billing clients.

At first it was a computer issue, "they are working on it" is what I get. Now they have telephone collections going after the Medicare adjusted portion of the bill.

Who do we file a complaint with?

I called 800-Medicare, got punted to "Quality of Care", punted to local SHIP. Waiting on their call.

I know this is an old thread, just wanted to know how this case went.

Sure. I had the board of directors on speed dial, got weekly updates by the hospital CEO, and had a personal "attendant" to any concerns. It was a mega-mess, but they worked hard fixing the problem.


To this day, I can email over a client's name/account number and they respond same day with resolutions.


It helped that they fired the useless douche that was working at the time this problem exploded.
