For a 68 year old male good health who has about 200k in a IRA who does not want or need to take income when his RMDS start at age 70 1/2. wants the money to leave for his heirs

Would he be better with the Baltimore Life SPIA Genaral Legacy product or Aviva Balanced allocation?

My concern with the VA is at 68 years old i would want more principal protection for him being that he will be in the distribution phase in the next 2 years.

He would probably best with a VA + enhanced DB rider. Perhaps Jackson or Pru.

OP said he doesnt need/want the income...

Find an RMD friendly FIA (which aviva is) that offers a DB.
LSA, is one option. many more out there. Altisure also has a new hybrid LTC/DB annuity coming out which would work too.

for the guy that said VA...ah no comment
