I am currently thinking to work for an independent State Farm Agent contractor as Agent-Team Member. The agent told me that i will be put in a 3 months training program to acquire the necessary training and licenses. After the program completed, i will be working for him, i will be compensated base salary ($1,600/month) + commission.I am currently making $35,000/year.

I am really new in the insurance industry is this a good move? and mostly is anyone has worked as agent-team member and would like to share their experiences.

Seems like it would probably be a lateral move. What are you doing now?

It depends what you are interested in doing long-term.

If you are thinking about making it a career as a state farm producer, I'd say there are better choices out there.

If you want to use this as gateway to learn the business and eventually open your own captive or indy agency, i'd say this is a good move.

I am a recent graduate with a BBA in Finance and currently work as a shift supervisor at a doughnuts shop
