I've been getting some LTC requests and am appointed with several carriers. Curious what the current preferred carriers would be for ltc. Looking for a stable Co. with a good program.

As Scott replied above, LTCi is all about health underwriting and benefits desired today. Just get appointed with Genworth, Mass Mutual, Transamerica, Mutual of Omaha, John Hancock, ....and maybe Medamerica for the Mahjong crowd.

    What is Mahjong?

does that mean single or something?

You'll have 400 to 500 pages of underwriting to look things up, become familiar, keep udated on, pretty basic stuff, lol.

no one can successfully "dabble" in LTC insurance anymore.

it's a product for specialists. period.

God, Steve, you have never heard of Mahjong?
You lead a boring life, my friend.

    Guess you are not Jewish.
    Or Chinese.
    Or female.
    Or over 70 years old.

Medamerica has good rates for ages 70+.
    Hence, the Mahjong reference.

I have never heard that reference, I am only finding solitaire when I look it up.

I have had a (very) few clients ask about LTC. I invested the $25 in an on line course and the 8 dang long hours and got certified. CE credits included, by the way.

I by no means consider myself an expert, but I've read and studied on my own and with the help of more knowledgeable people at my IMO, I believe I can give my clients sound advice if they give me some time for due diligence.

I tell them that LTC is not my specialty, but I will work with people who know it inside and out and can find the best solution for them.

I may not be able to respond to every question on the spot, but I can obtain an accurate, responsible answer to the clients questions.

So, I'm not a "specialist" but am I doing a disservice to my clients with this approach? The last thing I want to do is take clients money and not give them what they were told they would get.
