Medigap seems to have been in the cross hairs of the politicos for the last couple of weeks; first it was the idea that was floated to get rid of the plans all together, or to force insureds to pay $500 deductibles as a way of discouraging them from seeking care. Now, John Kerry wants to make the policies cheaper by changing the amount of premium that insurers must pay out in claims (which, if the news of the last couple of weeks is to be believed, should only mean that more people would buy Medigap policies and abuse the Medicare system).
