Blind Pension in Missouri

Hello. Anyone know about MAPD plans and Blind Pension in Missouri. I recently enrolled a Blind Pensioner who is working and makes too much for Extra Help and she now has to actually pay the Co-Pays whereas before she did not pay any co-pays at the Dr. I’ve spent a lot of time researching and have found no information. I also have called Blind Pension office, waiting on a return phone call. Anyone familiar with this?

Blind Pension
A Missouri state program that pays a monthly grant of $750 for those who qualify. You must meet MO's definition of blindness, and not be receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), along with certain other requirements, to be eligible. People who qualify also get MO HealthNet coverage. Visit the Missouri Department of Social Services for more information.

This is what I found. I had a customer lose it about year ago. My understanding is it is benefit is they get the MO HealthNet which is Missouri Medicaid. The blind pension assumes that once you are Medicare eligible you are getting benefits & doesn't need the help like someone who is not eligible for Medicare.

I'm not sure if you've already seen all these links below, but along with what has already been shared it might shine some additional light on the subject. I also recommend calling 866-877-8155 (if you haven't already), along with calling the MAPD carrier and see why the client is now receiving co-pays on their MAPD.

Thanks for your effort. I have seen all that. I’m trying to understand why having MAPD would void their Medicaid. That’s the question. I am waiting to get a return call from The Blind Pension department. I left a message on Thursday.

It would not cancel out Medicaid However They would need to see a doctor that accepts both Medicaid and the plan for $0 copays If Doc takes the plan and not Medicaid they would pay the plans copays
