I have a client that has a business repairing downed powerlines. I am quoting the commercial auto right now. He said he's going to have different union employees driving the vehicle at different times. Is it best practices to add and remove drivers each time a new union guy is driving or is there some type of coverage that will cover constantly changing drivers?

Explain more about the union and the business's relationship to the union. How long will they be driving for him?

Typical CA policies list all drivers and all vehicles, so any driver is covered in any vehicle.

Generally you list every person who might drive the vehicle so that the policy is rated properly and the business owner can see if their is anyone who should never be permitted to drive

If unknown drivers are being hired when needed, that's something to discuss with the carrier's underwriter.

If the insured wants to preserve his insurance he should at least require drivers to obtain and submit their 5 year driving records before being allowed to drive.
