There actually is a 3rd option. It’s been around a while but I don’t know if it will ever appeal to the masses. Environmentalists love that cremation doesn’t have to tie up cemetery spaces but they hate that cremation is very bad on the environment. So there is a cremation by acid rather than by fire. Instead of reducing the body to cremains (ashes) it is reduced to liquid.

Littering, filling the moon up with ashes and rockets. (Just wait 'til the Martians start targeting Earth with burial rockets.)
