This week, California opened public access to a new system that allows families to apply online for coverage in public health insurance programs, the Sacramento Business Journal reports.

The system, called Health-e-App, was developed by the California HealthCare Foundation in 2001 and licensed to California to help reduce the number of uninsured children in the state. CHCF is the publisher of iHealthBeat.
