Can Insurance Force the Insured to Get the House Repaired Before the Claim is Resolved

A house sustained water damage. The adjuster offers a lowball settlement. The adjuster told the insured to complete the repair within 180 days after the loss date; otherwise, the insured will lose the recoverable depreciation that the insurance has withheld. What can the insured do?

Why do you say it is a lowball settlement? Can a contractor be found to do the work?

What does the contractor say? Usually contractors that do insurance repairs on a regular basis know how to resolve these issues.

The insurance contract gives the number of days , for example 180, to insure compliance with each parties requirements, after a loss is sustained.
