Captive or Career Agent? PROS and CONS Please!

New in the insurance field. Please I would like to hear from Veterans on wether it's better to start as a captive agent or career agent???

Like moon said they are the same if you want pros and cons of captive

Cons:
They are not your clients
Lower commission
Normally fewer companies you can offer
May be required to report for mandatory staff meetings

Pros:
Normally trainhing
possible training allowance or subsidy
can be a good way to learn by focusing on only one companies offerings
Possible orphaned policyholders

Here is the most important thing I can say. It doesn't matter where you start as long as you start somewhere where there is someone who will teach you how to prospect and how to sell. If you learn to do that you can write your own ticket. If you don't do that you will probably fail. Whether captive or INDY find someone to be your mentor and to teach you. Do joint selling until you learn the ropes.
