Looking for a second opinion...
20 yr. old son in college in Miami Fla. area (rates a lot higher in South Fla, which I understand.). He needs a car on campus, trying to figure it out. I was going to pull him off my policy, transfer title and have him get his own insurance, thus eliminating my liability. He could carry low injury liability limits, to reduce expensive premiums, as he has no assets. However, since uninsured motorists ins. is tied to these limits, this decision may be penny wise pound foolish.
Is there a happy medium?
Any other way to go or something that I may be missing?
Thanks.

College students may be covered under their parents' auto insurance policy, if the student's primary residence is the parent's house.

The specifics vary by state, so you may want to discuss them with a insurance agent..

Thanks,
