Super Genius
Got a call from a prospective Client Yesterday. She's ready to buy and I want to make sure I'm handling her
case correctly. She's facing a much needed surgery from a spinal condition that will render her paralyzed if
she doesn't complete it.Got 3 specialist saying the same. Her income says M.A, Her Medical condition Medsup now until released from Physcian care. She easily qualifies for LIS. Her A.B was effective 3/1/18
which she wasn't aware of until I checked. She was still carrying a Health plan from her retirement that had a high deductible and paying $100+ O.V to specialist. I plan to sign her up for a Medsup and move her to M.A
because financially she will not be able to carry this without help. Am I moving in the right direction on this.?
I'm meeting with her this afternoon and want to make sure I'm guiding her correctly.

2nd question for those of you that sell M.A,, who do you direct your clients to when they need assistance with signing up for Medical Asst. I assisted 1 client while on the phone and it took 45minutes to get through filling out the info on-line.In GA. they can only go on-line, no paper apps.I don't have that kind of time to devote to this and some of these folks don't have a computer. What a way to treat your seniors.

I appreciate any advice given.

Thanks in Advance

Yes, I would definitely start her on a Med Supp if she has an upcoming surgery and in need of, most likely, physical therapy. Whether or not she she should change to a MAPD later cannot be determined just yet. It will really depend on the level of medical care required in the future. Assuming she recovers from the surgery with no lingering issues and has no other serious medical issues, she can certainly entertain the idea of changing to a MAPD. Just know that there's always the possibility that she may never be able to get a Med Supp again.

As for your second part, I direct my clients to their local Social Security office or Department of Family and Children Services for them to see whether or not they qualify for any assistance.

Thank You,
I will emphasize the need for her to stay on Medsup. I did explain there maybe complications from surgery you never know.

Thanks for the SS AND DFCS. info I plan to send her there as well..
