I guess it is a good thing LI/A's were even mentioned as viable options, but the author was sort of left-handed about it.
 
Like any other prospect, a through q & a / fact finding should start this process. As for whole vs. UL that also depends - articles like this that make wide brushstroke statements about permanent products are just like saying, "everyone should own some bonds in their portfolio" or "mutual fund fees are generally high and you should look to portfolio managers as a cheaper option". One paragraph in an overly generalized article does not a good argument make...
