John -

What has happened here is that I have lost the freedom to buy the car I want.

You also don't have the freedom (in CA) to drive your motorcycle w/o a helmut... because when you wreck and you become a "Chris Reeves", guess who pays after your insurance runs out? The taxpayers.

This is not a black/white argument. We need some regulation in the market. The issue is how much or how little... and by whom?

Hey Al. I have a great idea. Let's mandate that insurance companies have to pay for custodial care so that the taxpayers don't pay for "Chris Reeves" types of injuries. That way no one could afford insurance and you'd have your wish - socialism as it pertains to health care.

The motorcyle argument is complete BS. If I hit the deck without a helmet, I die. With a helmet I might "only" break my neck and then you do have another Chris Reeves.

The issue really is why does the govt. have to pay? That's what charities used to be for until govt. took over.

I ride a motorcyle and resent the fact that I am precluded from riding without a helmet. Hell, I'd use a helmet anyway but it's not for big brother to tell me I have to. Just as I would wear a seat belt but it's my right to not wear one.

Am I more of a danger to the other a-holes on the road if I don't wear a helmet? I can hear better without one and have more visibility. Doesn't that make me less likely to become involved in an accident? There have been studies that have shown that helmets actually contribute to neck and spine injuries and save the taxpayers nothing!

Perhaps the govt. (read, idiots we elect who know better than we do) should require helmets in cars. That would be safer, wouldn't it? Why not mandate more safety regulations for cars? I bet that if we add another $50K to the cost of cars for mandated regulations, they would be a lot safer.

The most precious right we have is liberty and both the Democrats and Republicans have stripped us of most of those rights. Libertarians believe in property rights - and my body is my property. If I'm stupid enough to ride a motorcycle without a helmet, who the F is anyone to tell me I cannot?

I'm tired of all this liberal (and conserative) bullcrap about what I can and cannot do. The govt. was not formed to bail people out because of stupid decisions.

True liberty is not the right to do what is correct, but to do what is wrong.

Aetna is coming alive on a multitude of levels. Good plans, most markets pricing is extremely competitive.

In CO run a quote for mother and 4 kids and see who has the best rate in the state - it will be Aetna. Single + Child(ren) rates are unbelievable - so much so that my client thought I was doing a bait and switch.

Now lets pray they don't get "rated" or the client will revert to the bait and switch theory... I think it was a clean app - but it was over $200 less than UHC and others per month.

Question. Do these Aetna IFP plans have a 5K cap on Rx like they do here in Florida?

The Value plan was the only one in GA that did not have an Rx cap until last July. They eliminated the Rx cap on all plans, and introduced some new ones. Rates & underwriting still middle of the pack to high. They haven't figured out how to offer or price higher deductible plans and they still do not have a maternity benefit.

It doesn't really matter to me about maternity. Not a lot of options but I do have more than I used to. Time could probably get a fair share of my family/maternity biz if they could get their act together but I don't see that happening any time soon.
