Got this email and attachment. It's good to see insurance companies coming up with creative ways to keep agents in business. I'd expect to see more positive changes from other carriers now that they got their hands around PPACA (big assumption)

Cigna is pleased to announce an all new commission structure for new business in Florida .

On Cigna Medical Plans with effective dates of 6/1/2012 and later:



  • Commissions will now be paid on a per-member basis
  • You will be paid in advance on all new business(based on the size of your book of business)
  • There are separate commission rates for North Florida & South Florida (see breakout by county on updated Commission Schedule) as well as for Subscriber/Spouse and Dependent Children
  • Commission amount will be determined by plan, with plans fitting into 1 of 3 tiers
  • There is no change to commissions on business sold prior to 6/1/2012
On Cigna Dental, you will also receive first year commissions in advance (for plans with effective dates of 6/1/2012 or later) and be paid on a per- member basis. There is no change to commissions on business sold prior to 6/1/2012.

  • Per member/per month rates for first year and renewal commissions on Medical and Dental
  • Book of business requirements for advance payments, and how charge-backs are calculated (when necessary)
  • How the tiered payment structure works and the products that are included in each tier
