BREAKING: Cigna reviewing plans to be sole offering on Obamacare exchange in Maricopa County

Now that Phoenix Health Plans Inc. is bailing out of the Obamacare health insurance marketplace, Cigna Healthcare of Arizona Inc. is the only one left in Maricopa County.

This gives Cigna access to 127,000 individuals who currently are enrollees of the Affordable Care Act's exchange in Maricopa County.

But whether Cigna stays is yet to be seen.

"As in past years, Cigna's participation in the public marketplace exchanges is contingent upon market conditions and approval of our regulatory filings," said Joe Mondy, spokesman for Cigna (NYSE: CI). "We are currently reviewing our plans with regulators, and will provide further insight after this process has concluded."

The article goes on to say that HHS is comforting us, saying they are working on securing carriers for us. I sure hope so, HHS! Phoenix Metro area has 4.5 million people.

----------

Also, by the way, in addition to those 127,000 on-exchange people, there rare 100,000 off-exchange people losing coverage. Phoenix has NO off-exchange market for 2017, and Cigna was our only carrier on-exchange. If they exit, we have zero IFP carriers for a city of 4.5 million people.

If Cigna does pull out, Arizona could spell disaster for Hill dog in this election. The rest of the country will be scared to death of the same thing happening.

It is terrible that this kind of thing might have to happen for people to take notice that this whole thing is blowing up and is about to be atomic status for the rest of the country in not too long.

This is disaster time...

But thinking Hillary cares about AZ is wishful thinking. AZ is not part of her electoral strategy

Does anyone know how many people in Maricopa county, AZ (Phoenix metro) are on grandfathered or grandmothered plans?

Cigna not stupid...my money says they leaving. Except they have their own medical facilities....

AZ Republic stating they are staying if approved:

Maricopa County left with one Affordable Care Act option

Even after Phoenix Health Plans' exit, Cigna spokesman Joe Mondy confirmed that Cigna expects to sell plans in Maricopa County next year if the company gains regulatory approval.

"We are still in the regulatory review process, which we expect will conclude in the next few weeks," Mondy said.

The Arizona Department of Insurance is reviewing the proposed rate filings to determine whether requests are reasonable. The state agency does not have the authority under state law to reject a rate increase, however

Not enough. Only Blue Cross and UHC kept their Gfathered & Gmothered IFP plans so far. All other carriers termed them over the past few years, with Humana being the most recent to do so. I don't know how many, but it's not part of the 120,000 on exchange and about 100,000 off exchange figures that were quoted above.

My post wasnt about Hillary caring. Its about the american public caring and being worried about the same thing happening in their state.

Its obvious Hillary does not care about fixing this mess.
