That's what's different than 20 plus yrs ago. In the old days the carrier would adjust the premium and pay the the claim on let's say a smoker who lied . Now if the premium would have been different most carriers deny the claim.
I've heard people say that. But I've never had any experience with any company that would adjust from a non smoker claim to smoker. Not 20-years ago and not today. And they shouldn't either.
If someone is knowingly trying to cheat the insurance company they should not benefit in any way from it.
