CMS - ACA Class Deadline

That would make no sense if there is a deadline for 2015 training except if its for retraining for agents who are already 2014 certified. So what happens if agents are contracted to sell MM during the year they cant sell exchange plans? Not the same with Medicare you can get certified all year for medicare advantage plans through AHIP.

That makes no sense . It must mean for agents who are already certified for 2014 . Otherwise does that mean agents who get contracted to sell MM plans after Sept 30 are out of luck and cant sell exchange plans. They would have to wait a year. Its not the same with CMS when it comes to selling MAPD plan which you get certified all year to sell through AHIP.

This was in an e-mail I received from CMS:

"Note: Because the agreements for the 2014 plan year expire on September 30, agents and brokers will only be permitted to continue assisting consumers with SEPs if they have completed registration renewal for the 2015 plan year."

I just "heard" that the deadline has been moved up to today due to reaching full agent capacity. I guess they are capping how many agents can get certified. Too many other agents complained about "too much competition".

Agents and brokers who completed registration for the 2014 plan year should complete these annual registration activities by
September 30, 2014 in order to avoid a potential lapse in their registration status. The agent and broker agreements that were signed
with the FFM for the 2014 plan year will expire on September 30, 2014. New agreements will be executed as part of registration for
the 2015 plan year.
What are the key dates for FFM agent and broker registration for the 2015 plan year?
• June 15, 2014: FFM agent and broker registration for the 2014 plan year closes.
• July 2014: FFM agent and broker registration for the 2015 plan year opens.
– Agents and brokers may begin completing the registration requirements for the 2015 plan year. Agents and brokers
who complete the registration requirements may also assist consumers with special enrollment periods prior to
annual open enrollment.
• September 30, 2014: FFM agent/broker agreements for the 2014 plan year expire.
– All agents and brokers who wish to renew their registration with the FFM should complete the annual registration requirements
by this date to avoid a potential lapse in their FFM registration status.
• November 15, 2014: Annual open enrollment begins for the 2015 plan year

In this document there is no mention of a time limit to get 2K15 FFM registered.

This should clear up any confusion.
