Competing with State Farm commercial

Even if he went to fancy commercial lines school, took every irmi and cic course out there, he is limited by his company. Yeah retail probably will be in appetite... but wait til he needs inland marine, or a good rate on workers comp (has anyone in the history of insurance ever lost comp to State Farm?) Hell if you were to ask him about hired and non owned auto coverage whether it comes from the GL or if its standalone he will probably pee a little bit. Really though It doesn't matter if he is a monkey chasing a firetruck or whatever, even as the worlds foremost expert... he ain't got the tools.

Indeed, there's very little commercial appetite at State Farm. They're big and bad enough to be extremely risk-averse.

Even basic Travelers BOPs mop the floor with SF. If you have Erie, Selective, Cincinnati, Grange, Hartford, or just about anything else, you'll run away with it even at a moderate risk profile.

Don't take any business for granted, though. Don't forget to sell yourself and your agency. They could, after all, fall in love with the SF fella.
