Creating websites and getting traffic there

Depends on how much you want to do and can.

The "build it and they will come" days are over. It's not just enough to have a website you need GOOD content and lots of it.

Also need a way to drive traffic if you are looking to generate leads.

Otherwise a one page business card site will work

You can buy the traffic (faster/lesser quality) or generate it organically (slower/much better quality).

Somarco's approach is best if you're in this for the long haul. If you're trying to generate traffic quickly, you can pay for it while you continue to build out the content of your site for organic search.
