I was referred to someone who was just declined for Term and DI by a big mutual because of high A1C. He is a 41 year old non-smoker who is 5’9 244 lbs. and not on any medications. Any suggestions for Term and DI?

There is an agent who focuses on the diabetic market. I would look for him.

I think it may be very hard as he hasn't started treatment for diabetes yet, which will scare most carriers away.

The other thing is the cost from those who would underwrite him will be significant. Do you know how much he is willing to pay for coverage?

The hard thing here is that he is just finding out about his condition. It would be better if he had a track record of control. Again speak with the agent here that focuses on diabetics. Splitting a case is better than no case at all.
