Disability Question

I worked for a firm for one year before being terminated. I then had serious medical problems that prevented me from working. Can I collect disability from this? How does this work? I still cannot work due to having ankylosis spondylitis and now I just been diagnosed with carcinoid tumors. I need to earn a living at 53 years old. Can someone help with this situation or guide me to the proper source. Thanks for your help.

There is really not enough information in this post to get any intelligent response. Do you have a personal disability policy, are you talking about SS disability?

How long have you been disabled and are you going to be disabled for more than 12 months?

I would say contact your local SS office and get started on a claim. If it has been less than 5 months of disability you won't get any benefits until the 6 month. But get it started anyway as about 70% of claims are rejected. You will need to keep appealing it if you get denied.
