Discount Plans for Medical

Have a client without health insurance looking for Discount Plan for weight loss surgery. I know about Dental Plans, but is there such a thing that is widely accepted for this type of surgery?

Client is basically uninsurable or at least difficult to insure due to pre-existing diabetes, ect..

Never been impressed with discount plans. In this case, probably a waste of money.

Bariatric surgery isn't covered under many health plans (never under individual coverage) so it is treated mostly like cosmetic surgery. Providers charge what the market will bear and offer very few discounts.

These extreme measures to lose weight come with a lot of downside. You still have a restrictive diet and any meds you are on have to be recalibrated. In addition there is risk during and after the surgery.

Most individual carriers will not insure you even after the surgery and wt loss.

If your client insists on going thru with the surgery they need to plan on paying cash up front.
