Logging in a few days ago and there were about 500 new posts. Today I log in and there are almost 2900 new posts.

Who has that much time to throw over 2300 posts in a day?

That's where it is for me...same issue.

Mine hasn't indicated a large number of new posts at any point in time today.

Yes (Val). Currently showing 2885 new posts. Yesterday it was closer to 500.

If you tap on the "0" it will change to the current new posts total

I believe it also changes once you visit a thread. I have seen "0" before as well but seems to go away once I view a thread.
