Margaret Hutchon, the former National Health Service director, has died after waiting for nine months for a stomach operation… at her own hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. The former Mayor has been waiting since last June for an operation at Broomfield Hospital to deal with a follow-up to surgery she had already undergone last summer and of which may have been botched. She was originally due to have the emergency follow up procedure directly after the botched June operation, but her appointment was pushed back four times. Finally when she went in for surgery, she died under the knife.

Jim Hutchon claims he has been unable to even get a reason for her death from the hospital, ironically where his wife was once a member of the Board Of Directors.

He told England’s Daily Mail: ‘I don’t really know why she died. I did not get a reason from the hospital. We all want to know for closure. She got weaker and weaker as she waited and operations were put off.’

The former mayor remained at the hospital for months but her family feared she was becoming institutionalised and decided to bring her home until an operation was a certainty.

Laughing at myself. Guess that I should check the dates before posting.

It's not your fault Dr. Duaine. The news blog you linked to did indeed post that article on April 5, 2016, without stating that it's a 5 year old story. It's probably a repost of what they originally published in 2011. Slow news day.
