Faxing to Golden Rule

My son is a security engineer for Tech and he get's all over me about faxing things. Here are a couple of places that offer HIPAA secure faxing so there must be something to it.

SafetySend Secure Email, HIPAA-GLB Compliance

According to that first link a regular phone line is unsecured too and I wouldn't ever be able to call anybody. I would think if it was a problem that the carriers would not accept the faxed applications and request them to be sent by mail...

Some carriers are more HIPAA concerned than others. And no, a regular phone line is not secure, nor is a cellphone, or a wifi connection in a public setting. Even the US mail is no guarantee.

I find it interesting when you go to the doc they make you sign a register in a "secure" setting, but when it is your turn "Mr Vineyard the doctor will see you now".
