First United American Life Insurance Company Changes Its Name
MCKINNEY, Texas, Jan. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- First United American Life Insurance Company returned to its roots and changed its name to Globe Life Insurance Company of New York, as of January 1, 2017.

When it was first incorporated as a stock life insurance company in 1981, First United American was known as Globe International Life Insurance Company. First United American, based in Liverpool, New York, has been working diligently to ensure a proper transition for its policyholders going into the New Year.

First United American changed its name in order to capitalize on the increased brand recognition experienced by its affiliate, Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company. Increased brand recognition has come as a result of Globe Life's numerous marketing efforts which most notably include obtaining the naming rights of Globe Life Park in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball club. I was captive with Globe and I remember how they gradually did away with the Globe products and blended them into United American in the late 80's(with the exception of their mail order life and civil service group plans), because UA had the more familiar name. Globe was a nice company before Torchmark got their hands on them.

I never realized until now just how well the name fits them.


They "Torch" a company and leave their "mark" on them.

I wasn't aware that they did that. It's been 20 years since I was with Globe.
