Are any Florida P&C agents charging broker fees on exported (surplus lines) policies? If so, are you doing this for both personal and commercial lines? What do you typically charge? Do you waive the fee on policies with higher premiums?
Florida laws were updated on July 1, 2019 to allow the following:
Allows retail agents to receive a reasonable per-policy fee on exported policies; the per-policy fee must be itemized separately for the consumer before purchase. This fee is not required to be shown in the policy.
