Franchise Vs 100% Independent

Hi, besides the early access to better carriers and owing 100% of book instead of most, what are the key differences (pro/con) to both models?

How difficult (or impossible) is it for a new independent agent to get access to the premier carriers like safeco, MetLife, travelers, etc when they first open shop if they don't have a book to bring? I have 8 years captive experience but a non-compete and will be starting from scratch with some solid referral sources .

Why not start with a Cluster?

Thanks Mike, cluster might be a good option I just want to own as much of my book as possible. Does anyone have any cluster recommendations because I know there are a ton out there? Plus I see some info on clusters that there are very different models

Take a look at the alliances that will help do all of the back end work (i.e. accounting, compliance, audits, carrier relationships etc.). That way, there's more justification to the cut they take on your book.
