    With all due respect to the lead list vendors, one can develop your own lists for FREE!

    Whether it is business leads or consumer leads, you can customize your own lists. Source is called Reference USA. It can be found at your local library, and accessed via the internet.

    To frame that with just a bit more context, most libraries (maybe all?) will let folks access reference USA for free. It's intentionally throttled (download limits) and missing key things (like DNC scrubbing). That doesn't mean it isn't useful, but there are plenty of reasons to consider other options.

    Another free source folks can use, specifically for business data, is Manta.com. A big perk with that is unlike most sources, it can include email information as well.

    Reference USA sucks balls if you want to really crank up production....limited downloads.....nope, pay to play and join the big boys.

    I generally am of the opinion that free leads will do you little to no good long term. The strongest businesses are going to be those with a strong pipeline, consistent remarketing strategies, and an effective conversion funnel that ultimately results in digital mentions and word of mouth.
