I have a friend who is an insurance agent that wants to look more into becoming a risk manager. He has done commercial insurance for about 5 years and a bachelors degree.
Does anyone know of a few good resources to research the different options? Does anyone here do risk management on the side as part of the agency or know someone who does RM?
Any suggestions on where to look, where to start, and what kind of things to do to make yourself look better?
Friend was looking and some places want things like a CPCU, AIC, ARM, and things. Is that common? It sounds like risk managers are very similar to corporate insurance people, does that sound right?
Any help, information, links, sources, etc. would be appreciated, I think he is looking to be in hospital or school risk management. I don't know much about this area at all since I work primarily in personal lines and wouldn't be around any RM people at all.
