I am looking for information on the sales process for group benefits. Ie group dental, medical, lift, etc.

I need call scripts, marketing ideas, and other information to learn the sales process with no knowledge of it. I do have B2B experience. Anything like that out there?

You can't be all things to all people. It is time to simplify and reduce not keep adding.

You are asking for a lot. I would start with the materials from your carriers to give you the talking points of why each of those coverages (not their plans) is important. This should give you a good foundation of knowledge for the types of coverages. Now for the impossible. Your presentations, contact scripts, etc. Show me 100 sales people and I will show you 100 different ways. I would suggest you get your arms around PPACA and it's implications for your market. Once you have this, with the coverage knowledge, most will fall into place. By the way, this will not happen overnight. It may take you a year or two before you are comfortable. Good luck.

I am learning many different area. Final expense is very basic and my mentor is 80% group benefits. He will be looking for someone to take over his business in the next 10 years. I want to see if I like it. I see group as a way to find some business owner clients as well and I use final expense to get in houses and find some higher net worth clients. The plan is to eventually specialize, as specialists seem to be the best at what they do and make the most money. It would be foolish to focus on one area without knowing what else is out there.

I appreciate you trying to give advice, but I just can't understand how there are so many people who give their opinions with so few of the facts when they are not being asked for their opinions.

Is it in the rules of this forum to answer the question being posed if you are going to answer a thread?

I'm going to ask a question which may be silly, but if your mentor does 80% group benefits and it's *his* book you may want to take over, why not rely on him? This forum is GREAT for filling in gaps, getting connections, etc, but nothing on a thread will replace having a good mentor. That's what you need more than anything else.

If you're mentor can't provide that to you, find another mentor.

Thatsa great question. With 70-80 groups he is rather busy. I am still deciding if he is the right mentor. The main thing is that I trust him but in the long run I will need more than that.

This forum is a great learning tool and i plan on utilizing it for that. Have made a couple of good contacts here and I am certain other people are learning from responses to my posts too.

Most of the answers are great but then you have some guys that only play devils advocate and give their opinions when its not asked, but a small price to pay for the great people on this forum.

Usually the advice that goes against exactly what you have your mind set on is the best, particularly when someone has been there and done that.

Pick your poison and focus on it. FE and group benefits really don't mix.

Don't get sucked into the fact you "think" he is busy, He has the time to mentor you. 70-80 groups is small potatoes and is not that much. 70-80 renewing each quarter is busy for one guy.

Groups 10-99 take about the same time each, so size does not matter.

Trust Me....I service 10x that each month. But, I do have 20 employees doing it for me.....

Twilight...i spoke to you for about 2 hours And was interested in working with you on the group side. I even followed up with you many times after you said you were going to call me back so maybe you are too busy. At least i get a call back from him.

Honestly i thought you passed away. It was so bizarre how you spend that much time talking to me but then never got back to me or answered my repeated follow up.

Sorry about not getting back with you. I sincerely apologize.

I am not quite sure how you have not been able to reach me. I am usually available rather easily, especially by email.

Please feel free to contact me in the morning on Friday, I am available then.
