Group health plan question

I had surgery done on December 21 last year. My first post operation visit with my doctor was January 3rd. Because there were laparoscopic procedures done in the post operative visit, my group plan (BCBS) is charging this under my 2023 benefits, meaning new deductible, etc. I was under the impression that the postoperative procedure would be billed with the original claim in 2022. Any chance I was correct? BCBS has told me new year, new deductible, etc.

New year, new deductible is the right answer.

Many people have "post" procedures for many conditions that last years, could you imagine if carriers were responsible for those amounts.

Most plans run on a calendar year basis. Eligible claims INCURRED in 2022 are adjudicated by the 2022 carrier . . . regardless of when they are PAID.

Claims INCURRED in 2023 . . . same answer.

Yagents is correct.
