Can anybody who writes group health in florida tell me what carriers, if any, are competitive in the sunshine state besides UHC. It is a group of 6 with an additional 4 here in Ga. So I guess I need a regional or national carrier, or any other ideas. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Do you have a FL license? If not, you need to hook up with a FL broker if they are domiciled in FL.

If they are here in GA, you may not find a carrier willing to offer with 60% of the group outside of the state. Most small group plans limit to 20 - 25% outside of the domicile state.

Back to FL . . . it depends on what part of the state they are in. The FL health market is fragmented. A carrier that is competitive in PC may not be in Miami and vice versa.

Avalon Healthcare (not an HMO) can be an interesting alternative in certain areas of Florida...

BCBSFL has, by far, the largest share of the market.
