She is being declined because of the colposcope. Usually the only reason for a colposcope is irregular pap. Coventry is seing that on her record and it's an auto-decline. You will need to get something stating from the Dr that she did this for a research trial and that nothing was wrong. It will need to be something different than just her records. Like a letter from where the trial took place and why and then file the appeal.

You're right coposcopy or whatever is performed for dysplasia to freeze the pre-cancerous cells.

I had the Exact same thing happen with Coventry 2 months ago. Declined for abnormal pap smear. Luckily I got this lady covered by UHC with immediate issue.

Update : Coventry has requested a new application and overturned their original decision. That is the craziest thing I have ever heard. My only assumption is that NO ONE looked at the supplemental information sent in.

I guess this is the 1% of when the client is right and not the insurance company.
