Do they not currently have coverage in the US that would cover them for emergencies overseas?

Travel medical covers things not part of traditional plans. Med evac, return of remains, translation of medical records . . . not covered by major med.

If you are on Medicare, no coverage at all.

The best truly global coverage I've found is offered through IMG. Check them out on google: International Medical Group. They have good short and long term products, products that cover dangerous activities and more. Check them out and see what you think. Hopefully this helps.
