Hello all!!! I could use some help from any agent in the houston area

Hi all!!


I am so glad I found this place. I have been doing allot of google on insurance in the last week. I came into a very odd situation and hurtfull as well. I became an agent last month, applied for my temp license. I had been working for this broker for 3 weeks, first 4 days was training then I had 11 days on the phone and did 9 deals in that time. I have done sales before but of course this was new to me. I had clients that told me I was so helpfull and kind, so I must have been doing something right
I was fired and when I asked why I was told I was a great salesperson but could not sell them.
After the shock of loosing this job I came to see that maybe i was not producing better because this broker is misleading people and I was having to flat out lie to people. I knew this in my heart from day one and I guess it may have just shown. I should have never been working for anyone that lies to people about something so important as health insurance.
I am glad I am no longer working for this place, but most of all I found out more about myself...I have ethics and care more than I thought i did.
What this broker was doing was so wrong I dont understand how in meetings he would say all sales people are scum???

On the down side I got this job because my daughter is 16 and guess were she will be going in a few years??? lol
Any advice from anyone would be great as to how I move on from this and get with a good agency. I know I can be a great producer as long as I work at a company with ethics!!!

I have no idea why you were fired, as you just found out Texas is a right to work state - they can fire you or you can quit at any time without reason.

Just spoke with her - I've heard very few stories worse then hers. Makes Mega look like the model of ethics.

Was she selling a "real" reputable company like BCBS, Aetna, Unicare or was she selling some fly by night product?

She was selling though this outfit Health Insurance For The Next Generation - NxtGenHealth - although they tout all carriers - and she was trained to say they sold all carriers but they are only selling Assurant's CoreMed plan.

They told her they had remitted her temp license but as it turns out they never did. So here she thinks she's licensed selling insurance and she's not. Not her fault.

It actually gets worse from there but maybe she'll come on and finish the story.

In order to get a temp license you must get fingerprints AND your application must be notarized - two steps the agent would remember doing. Just let it go though - I would say turn them in to TDI but that could come back to haunt you, I would just let it go.

The best I can say is if she lives near Katy to PM me. We have been in business for years and I will give her resume a look and maybe talk with her. We are one of the few agencies that pays full benefits in Texas.

I just noticed where that agency is located - odds are she lives rather far from our operation (over 1.5 hours with traffic - or more). I do have a friend with an agency in Montgomery which is closer to your area, if you PM me your resume I will pass it along as a courtesy.

She already turned them into the TDI - wrote a huge complaint. On Monday I have my contacts as Assurant - so we'll see if they still have an appointment on Tuesday.

Of course they will have an appointment and I would be shocked if the department did anything. Unless you are stealing peoples money this type of stuff is low priority for them.
