Help Insuring a Home

In Colorado trying to quote a home that was built in 1900. We got stalled because it is a cedar shingle roof and the owner who just brought the home doesn't know when the roof was replaced last, the underwriters need to know when it was replaced to move forward with a quote the assessor and the planning and zoning department does not have the information. Any ideas on how to get the info?

Thanks

Your agent should be able to guide you on this, but you can probably reasonably presume it wasn't any recent time.

I bet it was the agent that just asked...

Can the owner contact the previous owner and ask them?

Was there an inspection done on the home before purchase? Sometimes an inspection will suffice for an underwriter since it gives the condition of the roof.

The client can also get a professional to come out and evaluate the roof's condition and expected remaining lifetime.

Talk to the underwriter but either of these options could work.
